DINERO HECHO EN CASA / Home made money
Documentary / 2004 / 83min
What is exactly what we call “money”? Which is its real value? Who or what gives it this value? Three men from a simple district in Buenos Aires decided to question an “unquestionable” thing: the value of money and the almost sacred character that our society gives to it. So, they founded a barter club that soon became a gigantic parallel economy to the formal one, emitting an own currency.
Only seven years later, almost five million throughout the whole country, use their currency to survive in the serious crisis that was suffering Argentina, where unemployment and the hunger harass a population and where the banks decided not to give back the deposits of their clients.
But the big ideas can generate big problems… and enemies.
